BARBARA E. SCRAMSTAD is originally from Sacramento, California. Before pursing her law degree, she obtained bachelor's degrees in both French and Political Science from California State University, Hayward (now Cal State East Bay). In May 1992, she obtained her juris doctor from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, and was admitted to the California State Bar in November 1992.
Ms. Scramstad is a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and its Family Law and Women’s Sections. She is a volunteer at the Contra Costa Superior Court Family Law pro per workshops, teaching litigants without lawyers how to prepare Family Law paperwork. She also volunteers at the Bar Association Family Law Attorney Counseling Evenings (ACE), providing legal advice on Family Law matters to the community. She also accepts appointments by the Contra Costa County Superior Court to act as Minor's Counsel, representing children, primarily in Family Law cases. Ms. Scramstad has lectured on issues of divorce, domestic violence, and child custody. |
