BARBARA E. SCRAMSTAD is originally from Sacramento, California. Before pursing her law degree, she obtained bachelor's degrees in both French and Political Science from California State University, Hayward (now Cal State East Bay). In May 1992, she obtained her juris doctor from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, and was admitted to the California State Bar in November 1992.

Ms. Scramstad is a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and its Family Law and Women’s Sections. She is a volunteer at the Contra Costa Superior Court Family Law pro per workshops, teaching litigants without lawyers how to prepare Family Law paperwork.  She also volunteers at the Bar Association Family Law Attorney Counseling Evenings (ACE), providing legal advice on Family Law matters to the community. She also accepts appointments by the Contra Costa County Superior Court to act as Minor's Counsel, representing children, primarily in Family Law cases.  Ms. Scramstad has lectured on issues of divorce, domestic violence, and child custody.

Always community conscious, Ms. Scramstad has completed eight seasons as a member of Team in Training Walk Team, raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With Team in Training since 2003, Ms. Scramstad has completed six half marathons (13.1 miles) and four full marathons (26.2 miles) during the fundraising seasons, individually raising over $12,000.00 to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. 
 

MAUREEN M. BRYAN is native to the San Francisco Bay Area, growing up in Fremont, California. She pursued her undergraduate education at UCLA, receiving her bachelor's degree in anthropology in 1979. After returning to the Bay Area, she attended St. Mary's College, where she excelled in their prestigious paralegal program. Ms. Bryan worked for a variety of attorneys in Contra Costa County as a paralegal for 15 years, before continuing her education. Ms. Bryan received her juris doctor from JFK University in May 1996, and was sworn in as a member of the California State Bar in December 1996.

Ms. Bryan is a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and accepts appointments by the Contra Costa Superior Court to act as minor's counsel in both Family Law and Guardianship cases.  Ms. Bryan’s practice also includes general civil litigation, probate and estate matters, and personal injury cases.

In her spare time, Ms. Bryan raises funds and awareness for breast cancer research. In 2004 and 2005, Ms. Bryan completed the sixty-mile 3Day Walk for Breast Cancer in San Diego, California, personally raising over $6,000.00 for this worthy cause.
